An old man lived with his son, daughter-in-law and grandson. His shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult when the family ate together at the table. The son and the daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess he made. “I’ve had enough of his noisy eating, food on the floor and broken dishes,” said the son, one day. So, the husband and the wife set a small table in a corner. There, the old man ate alone in a wooden bowl while his grandson watched it all in silence. One evening, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor. He asked the little boy, “What are you making, son?” “Oh, I am making wooden bowls for you and mom to eat your food when I grow up,” he said, smiling and he went back to work. The parents were speechless! For the remainder of his days, the grandfather ate every meal with the family.
