As God had promised, Solomon soon became a strong and rich King. He then got a beautiful palace built. It took thirteen years to be constructed. Everything about was magnificent and people from far-off lands came to visit it. It had six steps that led to the palace where the King would sit and had statues of lions on all the sides. His visitors were served the best food on the plates of gold. He was quite a happy king and he also had many wives. The people of Israel had never seen anything so beautiful and attractive. Everything was made up of gold and he had lots of horses. He had small ships which would travel all over the places and return back with precious gifts for the king.
