Naboth’s Vineyard

After Elijah had vanished secretly, King Ahab started living a peaceful life, as if nothing had happened. Deep in his heart he wanted the prophet to be dead. Close to his palace in Jezreel there was a beautiful vineyard where there were beautiful grapes. The king wanted to buy it from the owner Naboth, who didn’t want to sell it as it was his family gift and belonged to his sons. He was so upset that he didn’t eat food that night and spoke about the same to his wife Jezabel. She promised him that she would get that garden to him, and asked him to eat his food. In the morning, she called the elders and asked them to criticize Naboth for accusing God and the King and take him to outside the city and stone him to death. The elders though were not happy with this yet did as they were instructed.
