The island lay, green and gold, in the middle of a large lake. No one went there, for it was said to be haunted. People could see lights and hear music from there on some nights. The little folk met on moonlit nights on the island. Elves, fairies, pixies and gnomes gathered there to celebrate weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. One full moon night, there was a special celebration. The wedding of Prince Godfrey of the fairies to Princess Lorelei was going to take place. Lights in beautiful lanterns hung on the trees and bushes. A band of gnomes was playing near a stream. The elves were cooking and baking for the feast. The pixies ran around setting up toadstools and tree-stumps for everyone to sit. The fairies floated around hanging up the streamers of flowers and sprinkling stardust! And then came the prince and the princess dressed splendidly. It was a wonderful night!
