Sheikh Chilli’s mother had been helping with wedding preparations of her friend Fatima’s daughter. She returned home and told Sheikh that she had forgotten the watermelon, which had been given to her, at Fatima’s place. Now Sheikh could not sleep, thinking about the watermelon constantly! Finally, he got up and went to Fatima’s house. The watermelon was there, but he heard some strange voices in the house. Hiding behind some sacks, Sheikh saw his neighbour, Lallan, with another man. The man was taking out jewellery from the almirah. He gave some to Lallan too, who argued that he wanted more. The man told Lallan to take the watermelon instead. Lallan picked the watermelon up but he couldn’t lift it as Sheikh was already holding it tight. They both screamed in fright thinking there was a ghost! Their screams brought the neighbours there. The thief was caught and jewellery was given back to Fatima. Sheikh’s mother was happy that, for once, people were praising her son.
