Sighetu Marmatiei is a beautiful city in the northeastern part of Romania, near the Iza River. Sighetu Marmatiei is located along the Tisa River on the border. The city derived its name from the Hungarian name meaning Island in Máramaros. The city was always considered a vital route to access areas that were otherwise sparse and mountainous.
