The Spiral Staircase is a treacherous stairway constructed along the side of the Taihang Mountains, in Linzhou, Henan province, China. Constructed 300 feet straight into the air, this ‘stairway to heaven’ was built to give the tourist a feel of the height of the Taihang Mountains. Attached into the mountainside, the staircase is not for the faint-hearted. At the top, there is not only the wind battering through the people but also birds flying past and the stairs creek cautiously as one climbs upwards.
