Chand Baori is an ancient step well located in the village of Abhaneri, near Jaipur, India. One of the oldest and most remarkable landmarks of Rajasthan, Chand Baori was built by King Chanda of the Chauhan Dynasty 800-900 AD. The step well is 13 storeys deep with approximately 3,500 narrow steps extending 30 metre into the ground. One of the deepest and largest step wells in India, the structure of this exquisite well was designed in such a manner as to conserve as much water as possible in the harsh arid weather of Rajasthan.
