Karersee, or as it is popularly known as Lake Carezza, is a lake located in the Dolomites in South Tyrol, in Italy. Famously known as the ‘Rainbow Lake’, Karersee is a beautiful emerald green mountain lake, with impressive colouring. The lake reflects the Catinaccio and Latemar, and is known for the beautiful fragments of rainbow colours reflected off its surface. However, the lake became famous more so for the legend behind how it got its rainbow colouring. The legend involves a heartbroken wizard who in his grief threw the pieces of the rainbow into the lake making it what it is today.
