Springs and Fountains

A spring is water stream flowing out from a natural opening or a crack in the ground. Springs can be found in the bottom of a valley or near the sides of hills or near any form of rock. They are classified into three categories: seepage, artesian and tubular springs. Seepage springs are small water puddles formed when ground water seeps out on the surface. Artesian springs are formed when ground water seeps through faults in the ground and flows in valleys. Tubular springs are large springs associated with caves. Fountains are streams of water that shoots out from ground into the air. The source of fountains is a natural spring.
