Once, it did not rain for a long time. All the rivers and the ponds dried up. But there was some water in a small pond in the jungle. One day, a thirsty lion came to drink water at that pond. At the same time, a boar also came there. Both wished to drink the water at the same time as both were thirsty. “I shall drink first!” snarled the boar. “No! I will drink first!” roared the lion. Soon, there was a big fight between them. Now, a vulture was enjoying all this sitting on a rock near by. He called out, “I will wait till the two of you have killed each other. Then, I will feast on your bodies!” On hearing this, the lion and the boar stopped fighting. They said, “Let us be friends! We shall not become this vulture’s food.” And they went off as friends leaving the vulture gaping.
Moral: There is strength in unity.
