One day, on his way back to Harith’s town, Hatim saw an old woman begging for food. Hatim removed his diamond ring and gave it to her. The old woman shouted, “May God send me seven for help!” That very moment, seven young men came out of their hiding place. The old woman showed them the ring and said, “He has lots of wealth; go and get all his wealth!” Seven young and strong sons of the old woman seized Hatim. They then stripped him of all his money and clothes, wounded him and left him to die in a dark pit. When night fell, Hatim saw something shining in that pit. It was his magical pearl. It must have fallen there. He took it and placed it upon his wounds and in an instant he was healed! He decided to spend that night in the pit and wait for divine intervention.
