A sea-serpent, waiting for food, saw Hatim Tai falling into the bottomless ocean. It opened its mouth and Hatim fell into it. Hatim was confused and did not know where he landed. He started walking around which caused severe pain to the sea-serpent, which immediately came to the surface of the ocean and threw Hatim out of its system. Hatim was trying to identify the place where he was thrown, when another group of fairies came to him and said, “Who are you? We cannot let you stay in our land. Our king has ordered to kill any human who tries to enter our land.” Hatim replied, “I was thrown here by the sea-serpent. I am tired, hungry and want to rest.” The fairies consulted among themselves and decided that as Hatim was not trying to enter their land but was thrown by the sea-serpent, thus his life should be spared. In this manner the sea-serpent became the cause of Hatim’s rescue.
