Hatim managed to get the pearl from the mouth of the red dragon. As soon as he held the pearl in his hand, he saw that the red desert changed, the earth got its original colour, the air started cooling and the desert became fit for habitation. Hatim discovered that the pearl possessed rare qualities. The possessor of the pearl could never be drowned and would always be safe from the effects of fire. The pearl could restore sight to the blind and cure someone from the bite of a snake or from any other venomous creature. He who carried the pearl to war would surely win. All living creatures, birds or animals, big or small would obey him. The possessor would have abundance of wealth and wisdom. Hatim came back to the soldier and gave him the pearl, to be given to the magician, fulfilling two of his conditions.
