A herd of elephants lived happily in a forest. One year, drought hit that area which caused many deaths. After a long search, they along with their leader Iravat got a lake at the far end of the forest. They decided to go there every day but they were unknown of the pity of the colony of rabbits. So every day, some rabbits got injured. The leader of rabbits sent Mikkoo, the cleverest rabbit, to convey a message to the elephants. So, Mikkoo introduced himself and said, “The lake belong to the Moon. He is very upset as you have crushed many rabbits on the way.” Iravat agreed to that. When both reached the lake, the Moon was reflected in its still water. Just as Iravat dipped his trunk in the lake to greet the Moon, the water stirred and so did the Moon’s reflection. “Oh! See how the mighty Moon shakes in anger,” said Mikkoo. At this Iravat said in a mournful voice to forgive them and assured them that they would never come again to the lake nor ever harm the rabbits.
