Futile Labour

A callous dacoit was very notorious for robbing the people for his survival. Once he came to know that a saint had many valuable idols. He formulated a plan to plunder him. He took a sharp sword and went to the saint and said, “I have heard that you possess many costly idols; give them to me; otherwise, you would be beheaded.” Listening to this he said, “If you need money, you should meet a king whom I know. He gives ten thousand gold coins as wage, but still there is one condition. You can neither dissipate the coins nor take them to the other country.” The dacoit replied, “Do you think I am a foolish, who will work with such condition?” Then the saint replied, “So what do you think when you die? You would take these idols with you. Why do you perpetrate crime for something that is not yours?” Saying this he said that he could take the idols. But the dacoit was overwhelmed and realized his sin. After that, he left robbery forever.
