There was an old man, who lived in a cottage in the forest. He was very fond of birds and small animals. He loved to see the birds and the squirrel running up and down the trees. Every morning he would throw bread crumbs and wait to see the birds and the squirrel feeding on them. One day he could not wake up early and did not feed the birds. There weren’t any bread crumbs outside either. The birds and the squirrels were roaming outside the cottage. “Let me peep through the window,” said the squirrel and he jumped on the window sill. “Grandpa, why are you still sleeping? We’re waiting for you outside,” whispered the squirrel. The old man jumped out of his bed and ran to open the door. The old man saw the birds and the small animals standing outside the cottage. He was very happy to see his new friends coming to his cottage. He took out the bread crumbs and fed them.
