Daisy was a fluffy little hen. She was cute. But she never did her
work on time.
Daisy always postponed her work for later. It was always “I will do it later” for her.
“Daisy, clean up your room. It is dirty,” shouted her mother angrily.
Daisy replied, “Yes Mother, I will do it.” But that “do it” never came.
One day, Daisy’s father said, “Daisy, pick your toys up from outside. It might rain today.”
Daisy replied, “Yes Father!” Then, she thought, ‘I will pick them up later.’
But after some time, it rained heavily. The toys got soaked in water. Father was very angry.
Now, one day, Daisy was very excited. It was her birthday the next day.
Her parents had brought a big cake and many other eatables for her.
“Daisy,” said her mother, “We are going out. Keep all the eatables inside the fridge.”
Daisy replied, “Yes Mother.” Then, Daisy thought, ‘I will keep the eatables later.’
Well, that “later” never came. Daisy forgot all about the eatables.
Her parents came back late. Her mother went to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
As soon as she entered the kitchen, she was shocked and furious.
The kitchen was in a mess. The cake and other eatables were scattered here and there.
Mother screamed, “Daisy” And Daisy came running to see the sorry state of the kitchen.
Before her mother could say a word, Daisy said, “I am sorry Mother.
I decided to do it later, but forgot.”
It was clear that a cat or rat had entered the open kitchen window and spoilt everything.
Daisy’s father said, “This time we will have no birthday celebrations. Let this be a lesson for you!”
Daisy burst into tears. She could only curse herself for this. But she had learnt her
lesson and never delayed work after that.
Moral : One should not cause delay in work.
