Once, a lion and a bear were hunting in the forest. They were very hungry. Both saw a goat and went after it. Both caught the goat at the same time. Now, each thought that the goat was his. The lion said angrily, “This goat is mine. You hunt for something else.” The bear retorted, “No! I hunted down this goat. It is mine only!” Soon, they were fighting with each other. They kept fighting and fighting till they fell down tired. Now, a fox had been watching all this. He saw that the goat was unguarded. He jumped at the opportunity. He quickly grabbed the goat and ran away with it. The lion and the bear could only watch, as they were too exhausted to chase the fox. The lion said, “Shame on us. We fought so hard only to let the fox have our prey.”
