It is popularly known as ‘Our lady of Chartres’; it is a catholic cathedral from medieval times. The Cathedral is located in Notre Dame, Chartres, France. It was built between 1194 and 1250.
Why it is special: The Cathedral is a shining example of French Gothic art. Considered a masterpiece, the Cathedral has been exceptionally well preserved with most of the original stained glass windows still intact. While one end of the Cathedral possesses 2 contrasting spires, the three facades are adorned with statues and sculptures that depict a theological description.
