The Burj Al-Arab is the world’s third tallest hotel. The hotel is situated on a man-made island off the Jumeirah beach in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was built between 1994 and 1999.
Why it is special: The hotel is known the world over for its iconic shape. It resembles the sail of a ship. While it may be the third tallest hotel in the world, 39% of its height makes up the top of the sail, which is non-occupiable space with a helipad on the roof. A huge atrium, panoramic elevators, restaurants offering a view of Dubai and an underwater aquarium, luxurious rooms and suites-the Burj Al-Arab has all amenities.
