The Cliffs of Moher are tall cliffs consisting of Namurian Shale and sandstone. They are located in Ireland. These Cliffs are approximately 319 million years old.

Why they are special: These cliffs got their name from the ruins of a fort that stood from the 1st century BC at Hags Head, which is the southernmost point of the Cliffs. These Cliffs are 214 metres in height and span 12.8 km of the Wild Atlantic Way. These Cliffs are not the tallest cliffs in Ireland or Britain, but they are the steepest. The Cliffs are also home to 40,000 different birds.
