Once, the birds of a forest decided to choose their king. They all decided to make the peacock their king, for he was very majestic. Suddenly, a magpie came and stood before all the birds. She said to the peacock, “You are very beautiful. I admire you. Can I ask you a question?” The peacock replied, “Of course!” The magpie said, “Now that you have been chosen as our king, our life is in your hands. Can you protect us from our enemies like the eagle, vulture and the kite? I can see that you are just beautiful but not wise or strong. Will you act in the times of need? We all face danger every minute.” The birds were quick to realise their mistake. They held a discussion among themselves. They immediately decided to make the wise magpie their king.
