Mulla Nasruddin led his donkey into a tea-shop full of people. Then, he took out a religious book and placed it on a pillow, in front of the donkey. “You see; he is not an ordinary donkey. He has read this religious book; only a few chapters are left. When he wants me to turn the page, he taps his foot.” Soon, a crowd gathered around him. “The Amir gave me five hundred gold coins and twenty years’ time to teach this donkey. I did this only for money. In twenty years’ time, either the Amir or the donkey or I maybe dead,” said Mulla. Everyone burst out laughing. “Are you Mulla Nasruddin?” asked the owner. “Yes, I am,” said Mulla, “I want to put the Amir’s cruelties to an end. Please donate heartily so that I may collect money for the old potter.” Soon, caps, turbans, shoes, vessels and many more things gathered around Mulla’s feet.
