Dinny Hen had been sitting over her egg for hours. But she was feeling hungry. Suddenly, she saw a bit of sunlight by the barn door. She had an idea. She placed her egg under the sun and put some hay over it. Then off she went to find something to eat. Soon, a hungry horse saw the hay. As he started to eat it, his nose nudged the egg. The egg rolled away. The horse went after the egg as it tumbled on. A pig saw the egg rolling past his nose. He ran after it and caught it. “My egg!” cried Dinny. Just then, there was a loud crack. “Someone must have cracked it!” clucked Dinny. Suddenly, the egg cracked wide open. Out came a fluffy ball of yellow feathers. “Hello Mother,” cried the chick. Dinny was very happy.
