One afternoon, little Eddie was returning from school. He stopped at a sweets shop and gazed longingly at the sweets on the counter. Eddie did not have money to buy sweets. His mother worked hard to send him to school as his father had passed away when he was a baby. Just then, he saw a coin lying on the ground. He thought, ‘If I pick that coin up, I can buy the sweets. But mother says that we shouldn’t take what’s not ours.’ So, he did not pick it up. But the greedy shopkeeper, who was watching Eddie keenly, saw the coin. He immediately rushed towards it and bent down to pick it up. As he ran, his back hit the shelf and a jar of jam fell to the floor and smashed into pieces. “Just for a single coin, I lost an entire jar of jam!” he cried. Eddie left, learning a valuable lesson on greed.
