Pete loved his grandmother and grew up listening to her stories. Pete’s grandmother was about to turn ninety in a few days’ time. Everyone in his family was busy buying expensive gifts for her. Pete emptied his piggy bank but he just had a few cents with him. ‘What can I buy for my dear grandma?’ thought Pete. Then suddenly, he had an idea! He drew a beautiful picture of grandmother narrating stories to him. Then, he painted it with his water colours. Then he wrote a beautiful poem about his love for her. On grandmother’s birthday, when everyone was giving her big gifts, Pete shyly gave her a colourful envelope. When grandmother opened it, she was in tears. She said, “Pete darling, this is the best gift I have ever got. This handmade card and the beautiful poem inside are the true expressions of love. Thank you!” Everyone praised Pete’s gift and he felt very happy!
