as its base. Sometime it also refers to decimal fractions. When we talk about its invention, no one has the accurate answer with evidence.
It is believed that decimals were present and used in Egyptian society since 3000 BC but as per Joseph Needham, decimal fractions were developed and used by the Chinese people in the 1st century BC. However, their decimal systems were not fully positional, is the accepted by all. Later from here, the Japanese, the Thais and the Koreans took this concept into use and spread it all over the globe. However, it was the polymath Archimedes who invented a decimal position. Every culture of that time, which used decimal system, used other bases of numbers. In Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican culture, 20 was used as base system; in the Babylonians the base was 60, etc.
