The history of glass dates back to 3000 BC during the Bronze Age. It has been found that Egyptian glass beads have a record of being related to 2500 BC. It is often debated whether glass was designed or just came into use accidentally. Various forms of glass have various kinds of histories associated with them. Mosaic glass is said to be developed and invented during the Ptolemaic period in Alexandria. Something similar to lead crystal glass was first used in Venice in the 15th century and was named as Cristallo. Later on in 1675, lead crystal glass was invented by George Ravenscroft. Sheet glass was first made in the year 1902 by Irving W. Colburn, while Michael Owen has the patent of designing a glass shaping engine in 1904, which was used for making jars and bottles in large numbers. Michael Owen machine had many uses and was known to be commercially viable.
