The much well-known electric telegraph is out of the world now, but it had a significant history that mattered in the world of communi-cation. The non-electric telegraph was first invented in 1794 by Claude Chappe. This was an optical telegraph that was replaced by electric telegraph. Samuel Soemmering invented a crude telegraph in 1809, which was again topped up by Harrison Dyar in the USA in 1828 when he designed the first telegraph. The British inventor, William Sturgeon, is known to introduce the concept of using electromagnet in communication in 1825. His idea was later developed by Joseph Henry in 1830 and later on, William Cooke and Charles Wheatstone, two physicists from Britain, got their own telegraph patented in 1837. However, it was Samuel Morse who is credited to improve the system in 1835, and he organized a public demonstration for the same in 1838. His contribution to the use of telegraph is considered to be historic.
