Long, long ago, there lived a goatherd in a village of hillside. He had many goats and took them to graze every day. And after grazing, he brought them back in the home. One evening, on his way home, some wild goats entered the flock. The goatherd brought them home along with his own. The next day, it snowed heavily and the goatherd could not take the goats out. He gave his own goats just enough to eat but fed the other goats well in the hope of making them stay longer.
When the snow thawed, the goatherd took the goats out to graze. At once, the wild goats scampered away to the forest. “You ungrateful creatures!” the goatherd shouted, “I cared for you more than my own goats and now you are leaving me!” The wild goats replied that they did not trust him since he had neglected his old goats for new ones. He might do the same to them one day.
