Once, two fish and a frog lived in a pond. The first fish had the quality of the understanding of a hundred; the second fish could understand a thousand. And the frog could understand only about one. One day, they overheard some fishermen making a plan to catch some fish. The three of them were frightened and wondered what to do.
The second fish said that he knew many ways of escaping, so they did not fear anyone. The first fish agreed with him but the frog went away with his wife to another pond. The next day, the fisherman trapped both fish in their nets. The frog looked at them from far and said to his wife, “I, who have the understanding of only one, am safe while those with the understanding of a hundred and thousand are trapped.”
