Once, there was a prince. He was very ugly, so nobody came to see him. Even no princess wanted to marry him. This had made him so anxious. The prince made a plan to attract the people and the princess of the other kingdom. He bought twelve monkeys. They were very good dancers. They would wear make-up and bright costumes and dance. All those who watched the monkeys’ dance, thought that they were humans. Word spread far and wide about their performance and people from all over flocked to see them perform. One day when the monkeys began to dance, a princess took out a handful of peanuts and hurled them on the dance floor.
As soon as the monkeys saw the nuts, they forgot all about dancing and leapt to grab the peanuts. They pulled off their masks and tore their robes and fought with one another. Now, the reality came out. The people cried out in surprise, “Look! These are monkeys!” The prince realised that monkeys remain monkeys even though they dressed like humans.
