Wendy’s Looking Glass

Wendy and her brother William had always been very fond of each other. When their father, the King, wanted to send them to school, they wished to go to the same school and not be sent to separate ones.
But when they grew up, William had to go to a military school and Wendy had to go to a finishing school for young ladies. This made Wendy feel very sad.
Miss Norma had watched Wendy and knew something was wrong. She called her to her room and soon learnt how miserable she was being away from her brother. Miss Norma had magical powers but she never spoke about them. However, that day she decided to help Wendy.
She took a beautiful silver-framed mirror out of her cupboard and gave it to Wendy.

“This is a magical looking glass, Wendy,” She said, “Whenever you look into it, you’ll be able to see your brother and anyone you love. Then you’ll know if they are well.”
Wendy was delighted. Now, she could see William! She watched him ride and train. He seemed to be strong and was becoming a great soldier. But one day, she saw a strange young man in William’s room, mixing something into his cup of tea. He looked sly.

Wendy sensed something was wrong. She ran to Miss Norma, who transported her immediately to William’s room. William was about to drink the tea when Wendy screamed, “Stop!” William was surprised to see Wendy there. When they checked the tea, they found it had some drug in it that would have harmed William.
The man who did it was found and arrested. He was Tom Custer who studied with William. He had been jealous of the Prince and hoped that once he was out of the way he, Tom, would win the Best Cadet Award! But he was sent away from the military school.
Wendy hugged her brother. She thanked Miss Norma for her wonderful gift that had helped her save her brother.
Wendy finished school and returned to the palace but she kept in touch with her brother and Miss Norma. One morning, she saw a dark young man with William and wondered who he was.

That Christmas, William came home bringing his friend with him. “Wendy, this is Richard, my buddy at the Academy,” he introduced.
It was love at first sight and Wendy soon married Richard. The mirror is still with her and she can now see all her loving family in it!
