Hanuman, Son of Vayu

The monkey-army felt elated having discovered Seeta. But the vast ocean acted as a hurdle in front of them. Angad felt sad thinking how the ocean would be crossed over. It seemed difficult to cross over the mighty ocean.
Jambavan, the wise and old bear, suddenly turned to Hanuman who was sitting quietly as the others discussed the matter. He spoke about the profound wisdom and tremendous strength of Hanuman, who was so humble that he was unaware of his great potential. He was the son of Vayu, the Wind-god, who blessed Anjana, his mother, a divine being born in a monkey tribe. Hanuman was born with force and speed greater than the Wind-god himself. He reminded Hanuman of the incident when he lost his powers.
Hanuman did not say anything and kept looking towards the ocean. Then Jambavan said, “This is not the time to sit calmly, Hanuman. You alone can save us from this calamity.” Hanuman looked at him with questioning eyes.
“O Dear! You are the supreme servant of Rama; your strength is infinite. You have immense power, intelligence, wisdom and valour.” Thus being reminded of his latent powers Hanuman stood up. With his faith in Rama and the inspiration of Jambavan, Hanuman grew in size till he stood before them like a huge mountain.
The golden hue of his body illuminated all the ten quarters. He roared loudly and uttered, “I can cross over this salty ocean in the twinkling of an eye, kill Ravana with his near and dear ones and return after uprooting Mount Trikoota.”

Jambvant stated thus, “O Brave Warrior! Be pleased to return with the message of Seeta for Rama. We all shall be thankful to you.” Seeing Hanuman stood as firm and resolute as a mountain Angad and other monkey warriors cheered in delight. They were more than sure that the son of Kesari would return with the happiest news of Mother Seeta’s discovery.
