A naughty monkey lived in a tree which stood in a village. Whenever he felt hungry, he went to nearby houses and snatched food from small children. Sometimes he would get into someone’s kitchen, scatter everything around, take away some cooked or uncooked food, go to a parapet and eat it with pleasure.
Other older monkeys tried to persuade him into not entering the houses situated in the village. The other monkeys themselves ate leaves and fruits from trees whenever they were hungry.
Once the naughty monkey was very hungry. He went to a house, but didn’t find any food there. He saw many clothes drying. He pulled down a shirt from the rope and started making a noise.
People from the house came out and saw a shirt in the monkey’s hand. They threw a piece of bread to the monkey and the monkey came down to pick up the bread leaving the shirt.
The naughty monkey was happy that he had found a way to get food easily. The next day, he went to the roof of another house and found there a pitcher full of wheat. He started eating the wheat.
Thinking that someone might come on the roof, he quickly inserted his hand into the narrow mouth of the pitcher and filled the hollow of his palm with a fistful of wheat grains. But when he tried to pull his hand out of the mouth of the pitcher, he couldn’t as his fist was bigger than the narrow mouth of the pitcher.
Since he didn’t want to part with the grains either, he could not run away. People came, caught him and tied him in ropes.
