There was a pasture at the edge of a forest. The shepherds of the nearby villages came there with their cattle flocks. While the cattle grazed, the shepherds spent there time playing. There was a big old tree in the pasture. It had a big hollow but with a narrow opening. The shepherds put their lunch packs in that hollow as they reached there. And at noon they took them out and enjoyed their mid-day meals together.
One day, a hungry fox happened to come that way. Suddenly, it got the smell of the food and followed it to reach the hollow. Its belly was flattened due to hunger. So, it got into the hollow with ease.
The hungry fox ate up all the food kept there. Now, its belly was swollen. It tried to come out of the hollow but was unable to do so because of the swollen belly. Soon the shepherds came there for their lunch. They found the fox there and thrashed it badly.
Moral : Excess of everything is bad.
