No Room Please! (Chemistry Experiments)

Have you ever tried to inflate a balloon inside a bottle? No. Try this.

Things Required:
Cola bottle or any small-mouthed bottle
Balloon
Note: The balloon must be large enough to fit over the mouth of the bottle.

Directions:
Hold on to the top of the balloon and push the bottom inside the bottle. Stretch the top of the balloon over the mouth of the bottle. Try to inflate the balloon by blowing into it.

This Is What Happens:
The balloon only expands slightly.

Science Behind It:
The bottle that looks empty but is actually filled with air. Blowing into the balloon causes the air molecules inside the bottle to move closer together, but only slightly. The air is in the way of the balloon, thus preventing it from inflating.
