How many times have you fought with your parents to let you have some ice cream? With the help of this experiment, you will not only eat ice cream, but also show your parents that you can create your very own sweet dish with the help of science.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Add sugar, milk, cream and flavouring in the medium-sized zip lock bag and seal.
- In the larger zip lock bag, put 2 cups of ice and record the temperature with a thermometer.
- Add ¾ cup of salt to the large-sized zip lock bag full of ice.
- Gently place the sealed medium bag inside the bigger ice bag and seal it.
- Hold the bag with a towel or cloth so that cold may not damage your hands.
- Rock the bag between your hands gently back and forth for 10-15 minutes, until the contents of the smaller bag become ice cream.
- Open the bag and record the temperature of the ice and salt mixture again.
- Remove the ice cream bag and serve!
RESULT
The ingredients inside the medium-sized bag mix together and become frozen creating ice cream! By adding salt, we lower the freezing point of ice, making it cooler and more difficult to melt.
