Once, a gang of cheats lived in Benaras. One day, they planned to rob a rich man. They added a sleeping potion to orange juice and decided to make the rich man drink it. Once he slept, they intended to rob his money and jewellery. With such a plan, the cheats erected a temporary roadside shop. When the rich man passed by, they invited him to drink the juice. The rich man, who was the Bodhisattva, saw through their plan immediately. He said, “Please wait. I will first visit the king and then come back.” The cheats waited but the rich man returned after a long time. By then the cheats were very impatient. “Have a drink of this fine juice,” they said. The rich man cleverly asked, “If it is so good, why don’t you taste some yourselves?” Saying so, he left. The cheats never troubled him again.
Moral: Do not let anyone bully you.
