Joy wanted to do something different on the first day of this new year but he didn’t know what to do. But he thought first to play baseball with his friends. He started to get ready but his socks were missing. He searched for it but he could not find them. He asked his mother. His mother replied, “Maybe it’s somewhere under your bed!” He looked under his bed and found his socks. Surprisingly he also discovered his paintbrush and his tennis racket under the bed. “Oh, I thought I had lost my tennis racket!” he jumped with joy. He stood for a while and thought he should clean his room on the first day of this year. “I am going to keep my room clean from now,” he decided. He cleaned his room and put things in their proper places. When Mom peeped into the room, she saw her son busy at work, neatly folding his clothes and arranging his scattered books, pencils and erasers. “You’ve made a good start to the new year, Joy!” said his mother encouragingly. She promised to make some chocolate tarts for him. Joy got his present on the New Year’s Eve.
