A Helpful Deed of a Girl

A Helpful Deed of a Girl

Once, a little girl Negi, lived with his grandfather, in a town. One day, Negi woke up early and took the newspaper of that day and went through the headlines of the newspaper. Negi read a news about a forest, in which all the feeding materials of ducks of the lake, in the jungles had finished and they were dying of hunger. Her mouth fell open in consternation. Next morning Negi and her grandfather went down to the lake to feed the ducks. Negi had a bag full of breadcrumbs. When they neared the lake, Grandpa said to her, “Child, reach out and throw the breadcrumbs into the lake.”

All the ducks quacked out loud and fought over the breadcrumbs. As they picked up the crumbs with their long orange beaks, Grandpa showed Negi the different kinds of ducks. Some ducks had green-coloured rings around their necks. “Those are the male Mallard ducks, while the ones with a brown ring are females,” said Grandpa. When Negi held out her bag and called out to the ducks, one duck quickly came, stretched out and pulled the bag out of her hands! Soon it began to rain and Negi and Grandpa had to return home.
