Once, there was a nightingale in a cage. It used to sing only during night hours.
An owl, who heard it singing in the night, was very much surprised and enquired about the reason behind it.
“I was entrapped during the daytime while singing,” explained the nightingale, “Thus, I took a lesson from that incident and learnt to be more careful and sing only after sunset.’’
“Now it hardly matters since you are already in the cage,” said the owl and added, “Only if you had been careful before you were entrapped, you would not have ended up in this cage.”
Moral : It is no use bolting the gate after the horse has bolted away.
