A Pound of Butter

A Pound-of-Butter

A long time ago, there was a farmer. He used to make his living by selling butter. He used to sell a pound of butter to a baker every day. One day, the baker thought, ‘Let me weigh this butter. I wish to see if it is of the correct weight or not.’ To his surprise, he found that the weight was wrong. This angered him and he took the farmer to the court. The judge asked the farmer, “How do you measure the butter?” The farmer replied, “Your Honour, I do not have a proper measure but I do have a scale.” The judge asked, “Then how do you weigh the butter?” The farmer replied, “Sir, I have been buying a pound loaf of bread from the baker. So, when the baker brings the bread, I put it on the scale and I give him the same weight in butter.” The baker was speechless.
Moral: We get back in life what we give to others.
