The Philistines attacked the people of Israel after the Jephthahs death. They were the enemies from the other end of the coast, and were expected to create more problems for the innocent people of Israelites. Manoah and the people prayed to God to send someone to rescue them. A fine day, God’s messenger approached Manoah’s wife and granted her wish to have a baby-boy, as she always wanted to have one. He would be a special child, and was empowered with special gifts and strength by God Himself. The messenger asked her to dedicate the kid to God, and take care of him. She had to take the Nazirite vow, which means that he would grow long hair so that everyone would know about him. They were both excited and nervous at the same time.
