“Our tomatoes will certainly win the prize this year, Mr Brumby!” exclaimed Mrs Brumby, as she brought in the first basketful of them and began to pile them in the tub. Mr Brumby was very proud of his vegetables, for he always won the first prize at the Farmers’ Show. Mr Brumby smiled and nodded. There were three tubs full of the best tomatoes, ready for the show. Suddenly Poppy, the cat, streaked in hall, followed by the large Labrador, Sam. “No!” shrieked Mrs Brumby. But before anyone could move, Poppy jumped into one tub, followed by Sam. There was a mad scramble as the two jumped from one tub to another, Mrs Brumby took up a broom to thrash them and Mr Brumby ran around yelling his head off! The tomatoes were squashed! Just then, George, the farm hand, came with a large basketful of tomatoes, and said, “Sir, where should I put this?”
