My uncle lives in a village only ten miles from Delhi. My uncle had been inviting me to his village for the lost many months. I decided to go there during the winter break. As our school had closed on the 22nd of December, I came home, took my bag and boarded a bus for the village. The bus reached the village after about an hour. The village was about a mile away from the main road. I walked on a small footpath which led to the village. I felt a great joy in the natural surroundings. Small plants of wheat and gram were waving in the fields. They presented a beautiful scene. There were tall trees here and there. Small birds were flying near these trees. Perhaps, they were picking up grains. There was no hum-drum of the city life. I felt like a happy angel in that peaceful atmosphere. Thus, I reached the village after about 15 minutes. I enquired about my uncle’s house from a villager. The villager was kind enough to accompany me there. He was very courteous to me.
My uncle and aunt gave me a warm reception. They, at once brought a big glass of milk for me. I said to them, ‘’oh, it is too much for me. I take just one cup of tea.” My aunt laughed and said, ‘’Rajesh forget your tea and biscuits in the village. Here, you will get milk, butter and ghee.” I had to take milk in deference her wishes. In the evening, we went for a walk. I was quite new to the village. My uncle introduced me to everyone. It seemed everyone was welcoming me to the village. My uncle told me that the villagers knew one another very well. They lived like a family and treated a newcomer as their common guest. Thus, I felt great contrast between a village and a city.
Unfortunately, the internal condition of the village was not good. There was no cleanliness in the streets. There were no drains to carry away the dirty water. The dirty water collected in small pools near the houses. The simple people of the village lived in temporary houses. They did not enjoy any amenities of life. Most of our country men live in villages it is the duty of our government to improve their condition.
