I was asked by my parents to accompany them to the marriage ceremony of a cousin. We reached the house of my cousin in the morning. Parties for marriage were expected to arrive at 8.30 p.m. Decorations for welcoming the party were in full swing. From the afternoon onwards, food was being prepared. When the marriage-party arrived, all of us were at the decorated gate to receive the marriage-party and the bride-groom. He was richly dressed and arrived sitting on the back of the mare. The party was led for dinner. The bridegroom was seated on the flower-decked stage. The bride was led by the ladies to the stage and she garlanded the groom. After the dinner was over and some other ceremonies performed, the final ceremony started. Sacred hymns were chanted by the pandit and the couple were bound in the sacred relationship of marriage. We returned to our house in the morning of the next day.
