Acalypha
• Common name : Jacob’s Coat
• Scientific name : Acalyphawilkesiana
• Family : Euphorbiaceae
• Native land : Fiji and neighbouring South Pacific Islands
It is an evergreen, often suckering, tropical shrub, annual outdoor houseplant. It can grow up to 10-15 feet tall in frost‑free areas. The leaves are coppery green with red splashes of colour. This gives them a mottled appearance. The leaves are large and broad with teeth around the edge. The plant blooms periodically throughout the year, although it is somewhat hidden. It can be grown in a warm greenhouse or as a specimen or hedging plant (especially in warm areas). Its ointment is used to treat fungal skin diseases.
