Acropolis of Athens

The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel comprising of several historically significant buildings that were constructed between 447 BC and 438 BC, in Greece. The word Acropolis comes from the Greek words, ‘Akron’ (meaning highest point) and ‘Polis’ (meaning city). The Acropolis is 80 feet high and 50 feet wide and comprises various architecturally great buildings, which include the Parthenon, Propylaia, and the temple of Athena Nike among other buildings.


Amazing Fact: The first habitants of the Acropolis go all the way back to the Neolithic period.
